Default Strange starter issue

I have a strange starter issue with my Disco I. Here are the symptoms

Most of the time it starts fine
Sometimes if I have driven for 30 mins or so and then stop, it will not restart. It churns as if it is low on battery or the starter motor is not working well. however, if I leave it for 20 mins to and hour it then starts fine....

And yes I have checked (and changed) the starter motor, battery, alternator, and leads. And yes I wait for the orange glow plug light to go off first

any thoughts?

Michael

Sounds like a possible Crank Position Sensor. When they start to go they kill the engine when hot. Spike's suggesting is to bring a loaded water gun with you. If it won't start when hot, hose it down with the water gun to cool it off and see if you can start then.

hmm, but the engine doesn't die when hot, it just doesn't always start after being switched off for a couple of minutes (e.g. after filling with diesel)
