Going to bring this back up. I have an on/off again issue with this, I'm afraid. Could it show up sporadically if it's the brake light switch? Sometimes the driver's side brake light goes out, sometimes all of them go out, most of the time, they work. I was going to start with a new switch. Does it matter what brand of switch I get? I know some of the parts are finicky if it isn't OEM.

 

Absolutely! change out the brake light switch before you get stuck somewhere. There are 2 different switches depending on if you have an automatic or manual trans. They tried to sell me the wrong one, luckily I looked at the switch before they ordered it and I got the right one. The other switch (with the rubber hose on it) is for the cruise control.
