Default Sucker born every minute

Title states how I'm starting to feel. I knew she needed a brake job, and had a small exhaust leak. I was told the check engine light was a O2 sensor, no big deal.
Well hooked it up today to check out the codes and well, hence the title, there's a lot more showing than what I was told. I did not hear or feel the misfires on cylinders 4 and 7 when I test drove it! Hoping a simple tune up will correct that.
Tomorrow I am printing out a list of issues/codes and try to put them in order of priority and wallet...

Well, hope exhaust leak is from exhaust, and not HG out the side of the block, like mine. You can run a length hose along the joint and hear the noise easily. Almost every used Rover, and certainly those bought for a "deal" will have items to be caught up. If there wasn't something wrong with it why would any person part with one of these massive fuel sucking beasties?

Read DiscoMike's sticky about recommended maintenance/tune-ups. These are not cheap vehicles - there's a good reason people often unload them for next to nothing.

Good news is, drop a few bills and you've got an almost unstoppable truck.

If you're lucky, it'll leak enough oil that your undercarriage will never rust, and your sunroofs/alpines/windshield/roof-rails will leak so you'll get a shower when turning corners.

... all in good fun

start with cheap copper spark plugs (I happen to use NGK BPR6ES) and new wires (8mm preferably....value can be found here... Landrover Wiresets - Kingsborne Ignition Spark Plug Wires Sets made in the USA ) . That alone may solve the misfires.

Start with the 'cheap' stuff. You might be surprised at the magnitude of improvements returned from a small investment.

Ahh yes but remember the leaky roof is solved by the sponge under the carpet to soak it up and rott the floor lol :-)

same problem with misfire on my current d2, upon purchase. tune up and all good. except the tune up is a pain, would have liked to have one of those computer controlled surgery robot things. and don't mind the roof haters. I am on my 3rd lr. all have had operable sunroofs, I clean the seals once in a while and have never had a leak. "knock on wood"
