Default Sunroof Leak Question

Hello all!

I have a 1999 Disco 1, and had about a 1/2 gallon of water leak in through the back sunroof a couple days ago. Headliner was previously sagging horribly but this is the first noticeable big leak. Took it to my auto body specialist and he checked the drain lines and track and they look and work perfectly. He wanted me to look around for answers and I'm leaning towards it being an issues with the seals. Where would you guys go from here to repair it? I am in Oregon and so the rain water is pooling up badly.

Apparently, this happens a lot. Its might be the metal rusting underneath the seal and allowing water to creep in. Check your rubber seal, if it has bumps, you can bet there is rust underneath it. Here is video
, but it's with the alpine window, same issue though. He removes the seal and uses a metal putty (dura fill I think to re-sculpt the edges of the window and puts the seal back over it.
I'm pretty new to discos myself and mine is an SD, so no sunroofs! But there are several videos on the subject, though it seems some of them are just people blocking their sunroofs entirely.

LEAVE THEM CLOSED!

Save yourself future headaches and seal them shut. The design was flawed from day one and isn’t worth the time or money to fix.

It is probably water leaking UNDER the seal of the sunroof and not through the drains.
Remove the drain tray, pop the sunroof up a bit, clean the roof metal really well, put a small amount of sealant under the lip. Smash it down and re-attach the tray.(good time to re-seal the tray as well).

Easiest way to check this, is to get some painters tape. Tape off where the sunroof trim meets the body. All the way around.
Put a water hose on it for about half an hour, check for leaks.
Tape will remove without leaving residue behind.

I use wide Gorilla tape to seal both of them completely covering the exterior gap/seam.
Amazon Amazon

I replace the tape every couple of years and I've had no leaks. I had the headliner re-covered in black fabric and wanted to keep it in good shape.

Okay little update:
It was definitely the seal that sits on the roof. My mechanic tried to fiddle with it and decided to just replace them so we bought the EEQ500010 seals. They don't fit though, he says they are too thick. I looked on jaguarlandroverclassics.com and their part # for this seal is RTC6481. Are these the same item?? I think our best bet at this point it to clean up the old seal and put some silicon in to fill the gaps.
