Default Suspension/alignment question.

I'm going to replace my ball joints and bushings soon. If I replace them in two stages, bushings then ball joints do I need two alignments? I was hoping to spread the funds out a little. Also, can I take my Disco to my local Firestone?

Do one alignment when all the work is done.
Yes you can take it to Firestone, mine even offers a lifetime alignment.

The only parts that will change your actual alignment (toe only) are the track rod (the rod that connects the two swivels) and track rod ball joints.
Bushings and drag link ball joints (the link that connects the steering to the r/s swivel) only affect the steering wheel on/off center
Toe out (up to 1/8") is adjusted from track rod, then center the steering wheel to your liking with the drag link.
You can use a tape measure to set toe, and do it as many times as you want.
Save yourself the $100.00 and buy something else....

That's good to know, my steering wheel is crooked with a dead spot between 11-1 o'clock. I bought it with that. I don't have death wobble, though when I hit about + 45mph I need more steering input to keep the truck straight. After much searching it seems it could be any number of things with my original 17year old 100k suspension. I fear if I start screwing with the steering box or older suspension components It will be more trouble then it's worth vs buying all new and starting fresh.

My one and only experience with Firestone was: I had them do an alignment but they didn't connect the tie rod on the backside... Well you know what happens then. Then they said that I told them not to connect it back up, yeah right. Just make sure they connect everything back.

I just got the alignment done at Firestone. I paid for a lifetime alignment service, which will pay for itself. I asked them a million question to make sure there isn't some policy that would exclude service.

They told me not to come it everyday, but every 2nd day if possible. I plan on going once every 3 months.....
