Default Swivel Hub Grease or Oil?

Hi Guys,

I am torn about what to use in my swivel hubs. Should I use the one shot grease (stc 3435) or is there something better? I noticed that some recommend Lucas Hub Oil. What is the best? I have very minimal to no leaks with my hub seals.

Considering that's what also lubes the cv joints, I've always been partial to grease, but LR has used oil for many years with no prob's other than leaks. But I took the cheap way out and mixed up wheel bearing grease with 85w/140 gear lube and put in there instead of buying the one-shot packs.

I use #00 grease from the local tractor store. Same type stuff as the one-shots, but half the price. It's consistency is somewhere between bearing grease and oil. Feels about like the grease you get with the CV joint when you buy one new.

I just did mine with the grease packs from RovahFarm, Trevor has them for 7.99 each. Very easy to use if you do it on a warm day and be sure to turn the wheel outboard to allow grease in.

Nice things about Trevor is you can also get the things like crush washers for 99 cents, brass radiator plug really cheap, I bought an oil sump gasket as well. And he has lots of stuff like that available if you do need anything. Look at his site and compare. I was happy with what all I got for the total of 36 bucks.

After seeing the oil that came out of mine i would never reccommend the oil to anyone. Get the prepackaged from Trevor, cannot beat it for ease of use and cost combined.
