Default Tcase

hey all, ive been doing ALLOT of indepth work on ol willma the last month. I freed the stuck CDL a last week, even with full range of motion the light doesn't come on. I know that itself is nothing to worry about bulbs burn out, but what has me scratching my head is i was in the process of changing my front driveline to the d2 version with the constant velocity joint. Tried to move the rover out the way with the front driveline disconnected. Not happening, tried all positions and combo's but, front output flange on the Tcase just spins, no vehicle movement. So i was thinking im not moving the linkage enough to get lock, but it wont move any farther than it does now. Any troubleshooting tips would be great !!

Thanks in advance !
JT

If you have access from above under the console use a wrench to turn the dif lock nipple.

How exactly did you "free the linkage last week"? It coming free might have just been something breaking.

i freed it by soaking it in penetrating oil. i slightly disassembled the upper part of the tcase, and used a hydraulic press to unstick it , cleaned and lubed the part and reinstalled, everything went smoothly, just not lockin

Did you do that to the CDL shifter assembly? What upper part of the tcase did you disassemble?

Did you access it from the top under the center console?

sorry about that i should of been a bit more clear. I removed the Gear change housing, the cross shaft was stuck, Someone had been in there before hand, the gaiter, nylon seat where missing along with the gasket, all clips and pins where there, the cross shaft was stuck big time, but i got it loose without breaking anything. reassembled and everything is as smooth as a baby's behind. Still no Lock though

LRadventure....what you've done seems to suggest that the CDL 'lever' in the cabin is now free.

Have you looked to see if the linkage down to the 'nipple' on the top of the T-case is actually moving? Often that little 'U' shaped link between the bottom of the lever and the T-case is lost or otherwise messed up.

Here is a good view....particularly at 1:25 of the video...
