Tired of reading about spark plugs
What is the short story on plugs for my 1998 Discovery?
I just ordered Magnacore 8mm wires and need plugs but I am torn by the NGK Iridium vs. Bosch Platinum vs. get the cheapest plugs you can buy argument. Geez what is the consensus? I am not expecting it to be faster or quicker nor give me an extra 10 miles to the gallon. I just want to know if there is any benefit to the newer style plugs

Yea, kind of leaning toward NGK Standard BPR6ES with a .32 gap and Magnacor 8mm wires.

NGK's are some of the best plugs out there so those are a good choice.

I'm curious why you think starting a new spark plug thread will suddenly get everyone to agree on what is the "best" spark plug, since there is no such thing?

Nope, just wanted to see if there had been any consensus or if there was any new developements since many of the treads were quite old. I am going to just get NGK standard and Mangnacor 8mm.

I'm a tightwad about some things. When it's time for me to buy wires again, I'm buying from here: www.kingsborne.com/

I think Tom was the person I first saw suggest them. They sell 8mm wires too. My D2 had Magnecor wires when I bought it, and they busted in half when I went to pull the boot off the plugs to inspect them. Not that I'm suggesting that's normal for them, but at over $100 a set, I'd expect them to NOT do that.

I recently bought NGK wires on Amazon for ~$35. You have to search for their part number EUX067 and then off to the right Amazon gave me an option to buy from them for about $35 vs. $55 or something high.

I also splurged and bought the NGK Iridiums. I went to Advanced Auto parts online and had to add a bottle of royal purple gear oil to get above $75, then used the coupon code BIG30 to get the total down to $46; cheaper than just the 8 plugs originally. If you need $75 worth of stuff you can find there you need for rover maintenance.

I'll let you know how they work on my misfiring.

*BIG35 for $35 off $85
