Default Turn signal wiring

Hi there, bought a '97 Disco this past week (upgraded from Volkswagen) and am getting it ready for inspection-the only thing it really needs at this point to get inspected would be that the front right turn signal doesn't work. When I checked it, the socket and the wire were both burnt, so I ordered new parts and they should be in the mail by Monday. My question is how exactly do I connect the new wire harness to the old wiring so that it works? I have the bulbs for the socket but I just want to make sure I know how to get the wiring right because I need to get it inspected this week and I'm not very...electrical. Any advice would be great.

I had the same issue with the front directional lights. It was as simple as unplugging the connector & plugging in the new connector; no cutting or splicing necessary.

Okay, I'll let you know how it turns out when I get the parts tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

So rewiring the turn signal light was simple, the only thing I needed to do was cut the old harness connector off, then trimmed the wires a quarter inch or so. I trimmed the new wire at the end as well and twisted them and put them together with the wire connectors that came with the harness and tightened them with pliers. Now all the turn signals work. The only challenge I had was that the new wires weren't color coded, so what I had to do was line up them each by how the connector was facing before I cut the burnt one off.

Do you know why a previous 12 volt-rated wire would have BURNED off? I would be quite loathe to just replace burned wires and not find the cause for the short-circuit - also consider why a fuse had not prevented the latter.

Betting it was the socket itself and not the wires.
