If theres anyone out ther thats constantly looking at the temp guage with fear thats moved even the smallest amount you need to get an ultra guage best 80 bucks i have ever spent on my disco. It will tell you everything you want to know and you can check trouble codes. i do have one question im trying to find out what size a stock fuel tank is? In gallons cant seem to find the info without running it empty and filling it up$$$$$$ Its a 97 disco SE

24.8 gal, call it 25.
I also have the Ultra-Gauge, dont bother with the fuel tank feature thingy.
I agree, best $80 ever.

Its fun to watch the engine temp fluctuate up and down until all of the coolant has gotten warm.
The MPG is pretty accurate.

Yep, using a micro-processor to monitor a mechanical engine designed by slide rules, and you'll see first warm up over-shoot, spikes for various reasons, and even that odd cooling sensation when you head down into the valley. I've started a fruit jar for one.

It all makes sense though Buzz, the the temp sensor is right at the t-stat, coolant gets hot and collects right there, t-stat opens and coolant temp drops as cold coolant from the radiator is pulled in, it moves fast enough that it does not reach temp and the t-stat closes.
Then that warms up and temp spikes and t-stat opens back up, eventually all the coolant is hot and the t-stat stays open.
I have found on the cold mornings driving to work that the temp never settles, in the 20 min drive it always goes from hot to cool as the air cooling the radiator is cold, actual temp outside is 40, ram air is what? Below that so the radiator cools the coolant quick.
I am anxious to see how it does on the 150 mile trip to the inlaws for Thanksgiving, as well as my MPG and such.
As well as the temp difference, almost always 20*F cooler at the inlaws in the fall/winter than at my house.
