Default Ultragauge MPG function

Does anyone have their ultragauge calculating MPGs for them? Does it require a fuel level sensor to work properly? Mine consistently says I'm getting 1000+ mpgs.

It's a '99 SD if that makes a difference

I've got the Ultraguage Blue for my Disco 2 and it is pretty spot on for MPG calculation average.

I have yet to get the ultragauge in my D1 to work correctly for fuel mileage. I've tried multiple settings.

I havent used it on mine, but im pretty sure you have to calibrate it by inputting fuel fillups etc. It's not an automatic calculation.

I finally figured out how to get mine to log a partial fill up, but then it seems like it defaulted right back to "smart mode". I can't get it disabled.
