Generally speaking, the fuel pump can be found locally for pennies compared to an import from the UK. Often, parts from common U.S.-made vehicles are the same as those on our trucks, without the import price. For example, I just replaced my idle control valve with one specified for a Jeep and is, for all intents and purposes, exactly the same as the part specified for my truck. Cost was $50 vs $180.

This forum will save you hundreds of dollars and many many hours. Without it, my truck would have been gone years ago. Instead, it is going strong and is relatively cheap to operate.
Thank you!!! This is great advice. We just got this car a few months ago and I love it. It obviously has it's quirks, but I can definitely see myself getting into this. I've never owned a car before (lived in NYC for 10 years and then drove my parents Jeep Cherokee Sport around), but I can totally see myself getting into this! I love the community I've already seen, everyone has been really helpful. I'm sure I'll be around a lot, there is still much to do on our disco. Hopefully I'll be able to salvage a new hood and new front plastic here pretty soon (the 17 year old that had us before was in a minor front end collision. Also need new glass for the right side mirror, have the housing but it got torn off. And need a new window mechanism for the driver's side door. The motor is fine, but the metal piece with the sliders on it looks like someone violently pushed the window down... was all bent out of shape.

Thankfully we live in Tennessee and there are myriad options for parting some stuff out.

Nice to meet you all! I'm excited to be a Land Rover mama haha. Who needs a cat or a dog?

If local options aren't fruitful I'd recommend that you contact Paul Grant (CT) or Will Tillery (VA). I've had good experiences with both.

Oh...and make this your home page.....

https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...section-32402/

It is the best collection of information on D1's you will find and will save you a bundle.
