Get rid of it because of the rust. You can't really fix that.

Ah, the rust changes things for sure. I'd get a second opinion by someone who knows Land Rovers though.

It's on a lift. I may take some photos and post them. Mech seems conservative.
Hard to find LR knowledgeable mechanic. Thanks all for your feedback.
When is it over because of rust? Search showed threads on D2 rust but not much on D1's.

It's over when the rear floor starts pushing up into the passenger area when the C pillar body mount gives out. Mine became a parts pig after that. I know the problem well.

most rust can be repaired with enough sheet metal as for the brake lines and calipers check ebay for calipers and use universal brake lines to repair the existing lines. If you cannot fix it yourself and cannot find a smaller independent mechanic, the shop is going to charge lots. Defiantly don't scrap it as many people do for small problems, either fix it or sell it to someone who will.

Thank you for your response. Didn't want to just dump it and since there is a potential live buyer nearby, it is getting fixed.

My D1 is sitting right now waiting for a new brake line. I have the parts, just not the time. seems everyone needs me more than I have time for. Have to agree about these critters always needing some sort of adjustment or fix. I keep thinking i should sell it, but then I go for a drive (when it is working) and I end up keeping it.

Thanks for your reply. Hope you are able to get the time to replace brake line
before winter.
