You can put a D2 bumper on a D1. D1 has three mounting bolts per frame rail, D2 has two. These two match up with two of the three D1 bolts.

ARB aren't just for looks, but they aren't the most heavy duty and they aren't the strongest. They are pretty though. Their main purpose is to keep a kangaroo from totaling your car in the outback. Really. And the winch is nice too. Approach angle sucks compared to many others, at least on D2, but I thought it was better than the stock plastic, and it won't be destroyed if you tap a rock or tree (or another car) with it by accident.

I think there is a photo floating around of an FZJ80 land cruiser with an arb that got hit by another car. It's mostly undamaged and the other car looks like it is totaled.

I'm sure you've read that. I've read it. I've said it. I was wrong. (And so are others that have said it).

The later D2 arbs are actually held on with 4 bolts on each frame rail and they have you pin the bumper to the brackets so it cannot rotate. 2 of the 4 you drill and add yourself, so you could easily add them to a D1 frame the same way, I assume.

I like the look of the ARB safari bumpers. I may purchase this instead of the full brush bar for my D1 then.

Or maybe a tactical rovers or rockstar. I can't decide hahaha

EDIT: Well I guess roxtar went out of the bidnesss

Brad from RockStar actually retired to New Mexico. Glad I got my stuff before he did.

Whatever you do, DO NOT get an ARB bumper with crush cans. They WILL crush when you nudge a rock or tree and possibly cause damage to your truck.

Damn it, the bumper market keeps getting smaller and smaller by the day. I used to want a TJ but I can't find them anywhere. I can't find an ARB for less than $800 and now roxtar is out of business. Yeah I wouldn't have gotten the air bag versions anyways. I'm about to rip out my passenger airbag and turn into useable space like in some old land rover videos i have seen.
