New TPS and VSS haven't really changed anything, but have ruled them out. I found I place about an hour away that says they have an Autologic system and can reset the ECU. I'll be taking it into them Monday and hopefully that will fix the high idle.

The misfiring may be the last issue now. Still getting P1313 and P1314. It seems to happen after a certain amount of load or after a certain RPM between 2000-3000. It can sometimes be fixed by pulling over and restarting it. Then it pulls strong and smooth through the entire RPM range. Other times restarting doesn't do anything to fix it. I'm guessing crank or cam pos sensor, or clogged CATs.

On a positive note; Grandpa and I went out in the green Oregon mountains today and had a good time shooting and light 4-wheeling. The only issue was on the way down the brakes overheated, smoked some, and had to pull over. Definitely have to get some better rotors.

Good to hear. The Terrafirma drilled and slotted rotors with stainless lines look like a great upgrade. Adding it to the long list..

Well it appears this is almost wrapped up. Took a trip to Henry's Foreign Auto (place selling defender) and he used Autologic to reset the ECU. Fired it up and it idles better than ever now. Only cost $20. It also revealed the P1313 and P1314 were coming from cylinder 1 and 6 so likely it's that coil pack. Feels great to know with some certainty what the last issue is.

Is the coil pack something that can be switched out to see if the problem follows the suspect coil?

Nice to know hard work and persistance still pays off!

Yeah the coils can be rearranged in the bracket. That would be a good way to verify it. Most places want over $400 for the whole coil-pack but I found the individual coils for $32 each.

Cylinder 1 and 6 are served by the same coil pack (dual coil). When one dies, the other holds hands and steps off the ledge with them....
