Yeah, the chrome caps are for appearance only, what a poor design choice to incorparate such a weak link in a vital part.

 

This whole issue wouldn't be so funny if I hadn't had to ask the same question. As great a truck as the Disco 1 is, a fricking lug nut stops you dead in your tracks; sometimes even with the proper tools! Thanks for the laughs fellas.
