Lug Wrench
I need a Lug Wrench for my 1996 Rover. The Lugs on the Wheel can be pulled and fell spring loaded. What is this? Do they come off or do I wrench on them? What size socket is the proper size for this size Lug(metric or standard)?
Don't remember the size of the lug nuts on a D1, what you are feeling is the tin covers that are coming loose from using the wrong size lug wrench. Hopefully someone will chime in and give you the proper size. You may still have a problem if the caps are loose, you may have to go up one size to get them off. Better plan on replacing the bad ones so you don't get stranded some day with no way to remove them.

I had a similar problem with my '96 Disco 1. Some clown had tightened them so tight and mangled the tin lug covers so bad that I had to chisel the covers off and use a huge breaker bar to get them off. Needless to say, I had to replace a few of the lug nuts and they aren't cheap. I believe the lug nuts are 1 1/8 inch if they are intact - it might be
1 1/16 inch though. It took me a while to get the truck to where I could change a flat if I had to using the lug wrench and jack provided. Be careful with the lug nuts and try not to let some moron mangle them with an impact wrench or tighten them down so hard the truck bounces up and down when you try to break them free again. I guess it's easy to do with the large diameter lugs.[&:]
