Ask around in Ketchikan. I do say things like that to their faces. That's the way I am. I don't change the way I am for people I don't know or will never see. And just like I tell people in real life, do a google search first. And if it weren't for ridiculous, off-hand comments, I'd never get on a forum.

If it wastes your time, maybe there are better things you can do besides asking silly questions here. You must be able to afford to go to the Dealership if your time is worth that much.

I like those. You can throw the winch in cargo area when not in use. Put it in the back hitch to pull you backwards or in the front to pull you forwards. Just have to install a front 2" receiver. Maybe replace the rear receiver with a stronger(thicker walled) one.

That's an interesting concept... I think I'm gonna go for the more conventional option. As for Chris... it's a good thing you live in alaska.

Sure is. Up here people don't have to pretend to be something they aren't. That, and the fishing is great. Good luck with a winch setup. Be sure to report back as to what you go with and how it works.

"Good thing you live in Alaska"...............WTF man?. Was that an internet threat? LOL, you must be tough because only the REAL tough SOB's internet threat....... Anyways, theres a thread on some other site where you can remove the front bumper, bolt one of those premade winch mounts between the frame rails, then cut out the bottom part of your grill. When its done it keeps your factory bumper and it looks really clean. IF I can find it again I'll post a link.

It's like mud and water, we love it deep! All the better to wheel in.

Question:

Why would a winch 'bumper' be more preferred?

I ask this because I hear people say an actual bumper would be stronger. How so? It's basically the same material, and is bolted to the same area of the subframe a bumper would be isn't it? Just asking as I've never really looked at the mounting locations for aftermarket winch bumpers - and honestly, those damn things are expensive.

Can't lie - the internet arguing is fun to read too, however useless it is.
