Default "M" and "S" lights blinking

Three times in a month now, I've started and get the transmission lights flashing, the LED on the gear shifter blinks and the truck is very sluggish. Owners manual says to restart, but usually takes 6-12 electronic restarts to clear the lights. Any ideas?

The owners manual says if your lights are flashing after a restart take it straight to a shop because you are experiencing a tranny electrical problem.

My 2003 discovery did the same thing. I have a 2003 Discovery with 41000 miles. it ran out of warranty in Feb 07 and now the transmission is shot. Is there anything I can do? Please help!! I bought the car used and have only put about 6000 miles on it. I was taken in to the land Rover Dealership to have the transmission checked in Nov. 06 with only 35500 on it and they said it checked out ok. And now it needs a whole new transmission because it has water in it, But if it is sealed how did this happen? Any help?

I had the same problem with my 2003 Discovery with 41000 miles. But as you said I turned the car off and the lights cleared. Now less that 2 weeks later the car wouldn't go into Rev. I took my car into the dealership to find out I needa whole new transmission at 5,000 dollars. i have only owned the car since Jan. and have only put about 6,000 miles on it. but the warranty ran out in Feb. 07. before I bought the discoveryit had been serviced at the Land Rover Dealership for the transmission in Nov. 06 with 35500 miles and they stated it was ok. Is this normal for the transmission to be having these problems? Please help I have a baby on the way and can't afford this. Heather

I've had my '02 for only 10 months now and those lights have gone on three times. Once in September. Once in December and once about March. What does that mean??????????

I would go sit down with the service manager and ask to have the file on your truck reviewed, paying attention to the work order where you brought it in for a tranny problem. If he has a problem with approving any additional work then ask him to set up an appointment so you can sit down with the district service rep from Rover.

So what are you doing about your tranny issues?
