Check to see if you're getting spark, maybe it's the crank position sensor or the wiring going to it. Shouldn't the check engine light go out when cranking if the sensor is working? Doesn't the sensor control the tachometer too? I can't seem to remember these things right now.

Seriously though, replace your crank sensor. That is all, have a nice day.

Alrighty. So I just got the truck towed last Friday. The shop did an engine diagnostic on Monday and found it to be the crank sensor. They replaced it yesterday.

I'm heading over there right now because the shop owner is letting me take his truck while mine is in the shop.

Should I still have them check the codes in the gearbox ECU? Would that cost me?

Thanks!!!!

While it is in the shop I would have the codes checked. Hopefully the process is free of charge (it certainly is not hard to do, plug-in and read).

How much did the new sensor and install cost you (if you don't mind me asking).

Cheers,

Pete

Parts and install at our dealership run a couple hundred I believe(about $200). You will find an engine speed fault and possibly a CAN network missing message fault stored. When these sensors fail, you will have fuel pressure key on not cranking and no fuel pressure as soon as you start cranking. No engine speed=not trying to start so don't send fuel. Also, you will only have faults set and M&S lights flashing if the sensor fails while the engine is running. If the sensor fails when the engine is not running, no faults will be set.

um.. the last time I looked it was 2018 so unless you do time travel, Urban Panzer and KC and the sunshine band are no longer. No one is shouting 'get down on it' or 'please don't go' to this sad, sad thread. And that's ok. It's ok if the sole purpose of a lemon is to provide a little twist to the lime, freshen your water or whiten your teeth. Well.. if you have teeth, that is. Not everyone does and that's as obvious as this thread is dead.
