I am having some problems with the rear door of my Land Rover. Last night I went to open the rear door and the door never unlatched. I found that I had forgotten to unlock the door, so I cycled the locks (lock and then unlock) and attempted to open the rear door. It never unlatched. I can operate the handle completely with no resistance. This is day three of this problem.

Has anyone had this problem or know of a possible fix? How difficult it might be? Where to start looking? Please help. Thanks.

Remove the Rover emblym from the outside license housing and spray the latch with some oil, you should be fine.

It is most likely a broken latch --something we do see at the shop from time to time. And it is a pain to gain access to when the door is shut. You have to unfasten the rear panel from the inside of the vehicle (where the sub-woofers are) the best you can, and by "feel" manually trip the latch to open the door. The part is a dealer-only item.
