Default 02 Codes

Here's a weird one....

2000 Disco2
93 octane
138K

I know that when you start to throw 02 codes that you could need a tune up and that that will ,most of the time, clear that up. In my case I put new plugs and wires in, and it threw the codes after I did this. The plugs are NGK Iridiums and of course the 8mm Mags. The plugs I put in 2 months ago with no codes but the wires, I put in day before yesterday.

At first I got a "No Activity" code and then I took the sensor off and cleaned the connection and made sure all was good. Then I reset the codes, and now I'm getting PO150.

When I started the code search I got the possible causes:

Water or corrosion in the connector
Loose terminals in the connector
Wiring burnt on exhaust components
Open or short in the wiring due to rubbing on engine components
Holes in exhaust allowing unmetered oxygen into exhaust system
Unmetered vacuum leak at the engine
Bad o2 sensor
Bad PCM

So of course a lot of these could be the culprit, but the most recent one would probably be the fact that I washed my engine at the coin opp. wash the other day (no soap, just water pressure) and of course got it wet.

Any thoughts on the new plugs for some reason effecting my 02 sensor readings or should I look deeper into the above list?

Thanks,
Jeff

The tune up will make your burn better. Not sure about the Iridiums, I have heard bad things about them. BUT, you are due for all of your O2's to be replaced. 80K on gen1 and 100K on gen2.

You can keep fiddling with them, but they need to be replaced at that mileage. ALL AT THE SAME TIME>

At your mileage, if your 02's haven't been changed out, I would replace all 4 to help regain some power and mileage lost with the old sensors.

Sloppy will tell you he uses the Iridiums on all of his land sea and air vehicles. they are good plucs but i prefer the bosch +4's..

yeah, like everyone else said, replace all 4 O2's and drive your code free truck into 2010.
