Default 02 Disco II BCU Problems

So we are having problems with our BCU in our Disco II but should we just buy the BCU and send it off to get reprogrammed or would it be better to buy the BCU, EFI ECU instruments and Gauge cluster?

A replacement BCU needs to have the ECU re-programmed to "learn" the new BCU, not sure you could just send off the BCU. If you replaced ECU and BCU as a pair, that may work. As you mentioned, cluster odometer if not swapped will flash. But these are all things a shop with the right computer can take care off.

First, what sort of problem are you having and be specific????
Also, if you were to buy one, you can't just send it off to have it programmed, a dealer or shop would have to have your truck to do that process.

If you find you need a BCU and want to go the least expensive route, I have a variety of ECU/BCU?Cluster combinations available. Let me know if it turns out you need something.
Cheers,
Paul

Well we were having problems with it like it was missing and we were getting misfiring codes on our OBDII. Then one day the truck just shutoff at a stoplight and wouldn't start back up. So we had the Crankshaft position sensor replaced and it still wouldn't start up. So it just sat a while and we charged the battery and it would start up, but only for a couple minutes and then it would shutoff and be hard to start again. After it happened we pulled the P1668 code and I looked it up and it said something about the BCU. So we came to conclusion we would replace the BCU but now I found out we need to replace the ECU, BCU, and gauge cluster?

i thought i read that Paul Grant retired or got out of the used Land Rover parts business.

if you don't hear back from him, try Will Tillery at Roverguy.com.

Here's what Paul wrote to me in December 2020.
"While I'm not really taking in Rovers for parting I still have thousands of parts sitting on my shelves. ... If you're looking for something, it's always worthwhile sending me a PM.
