Default 02 discovery II gas engine fuel filter

Ok, I have searched the net a little bit, looked through the rave manual and cannot find an article that will help with this issue. Some of the articles online are for other year discoveries and looking under the truck is useless. I bought a fuel filter from an auto parts store and now I can't find where it is. I looked behind the rear passenger tire (without removing it) and have looked up and down the under carriage. Is the filter in the gas tank or is this a lost cause? The RAVE manual shows that there is one for the diesel engine or there is a sedimenter. Any help would be appreciated.

There is not a separate fuel filter, it is part of the pump. To replace the filter you have to buy a new pump. Thank you BMW, oh yeah I meant to say **** you BMW.

It is part of the pump and cannot be serviced by itself.

Are you having issues that you think are caused by the fuel filter or are you just doing routine maintenance?
