02D2 Flashing lights....lower power

My wife has been complaining about occasional instrument lights flashing and reduced power. She feels it's often on start up. Sometimes a restart solves the problem. Today I took it for a drive and for the first time I noticed it.

Here's what happens.

When the problem occurs, the "M" and "S" Lights flash (2) in time with "0" mileage indicator (3) on the odometer. Power seems to diminish but not much or surge/reduce power. It's hard for me to tell as I don't drive this vehicle much. A little modern for me.

The ABS and downhill disco light has been on for awhile.

Any ideas?

Could be battery and/or all associated large power cables and connectors, both battery and in under hood fuse box. Also XYZ switch. See this https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...ghlight=lights

Go to your local auto parts store, have them run their free charging system test, voltage should be between 13.6 and 14.4. Get back to us and let us know what they say. The lower power is because your tranny is in limp mode which could be voltage related or something else.
Is you service engine light on, if so get those codes read while at the parts store and tell us what the fault code numbers are.

Geeeeeze another $250 plus part I knew nothing about. OK. I'll take it to AutoZone to read the codes. Thanks as always.

You can buy a Rover all at once at the dealership, or a piece at a time on the budget system. And if it is a OEM alternator, like the Italian made one, you can get the inside electronics (voltage regulator and brush assembly) for about $60.
