8mm has better insulation against the heat dispersed from our aluminum blocks. most people reccomend 8mm magnecors from apexperformance.net

Of all the dumb statements I've heard that one is about the best.
Sure your timing will be adjusted, but your engine is not running as efficient as it can and you are pissing money out of the exhaust, besides the long term damage that you are doing to your engine.

so i spent a little bit with my brother and my engine yesterday and discovered that the gargling bogging sound its making is actually it backfiring through the intake manifold. ever since i got the vehicle it has had a ticking sound that sounds like the lifters and its always came from the right side of the engine. same side as my cylinder 8 misfire. my parents discovery doesnt make this noise. i believe my wire and coil are good because i pulled the plug wire off and laid it on top of the engine and it would ark all the way to the manifold. lets say the engine is running and your under the hood. you take the throttle and rev the engine up really quick and release, the sudden movement of going from idle throttle to 50% throttle is when the backfire happens. if i pull the wire off the plug and do this is still backfires its just really muffed because your not hearing the explosion, only the release of the high pressure. so im going to open up the top end and findout what i got goin on under there. im thinking i will probably find a clogged lifter or maybe a bent rod or a week spring, i dunno yet. luckily iv got a garage that i can post my vehicle up in until i get it fixed

I would suggest the basic tune up that everyone else has recommended but I also hate to even mention the HG but if you are getting a gurgling sound in the heater core you are getting gases/air into your system which could come from a HG going bad. Also this would explain the loss of power. You are getting close to the range where the HG will fail so don't rule this out if everything else you does not solve your problem.

theres no gurgling sound in the heater core... what i was saying when i said gargling is, i was trying to describe the backfireing into the intake manifold, which can only be caused by the intake valve not closing all the way on the exhaust stroke. i have no loss of coolent

Any additional damage/wear because of the lifter? You back on the road yet?
