Default 03 DII - P1451 - Evap. Leak Detection Pump?

Hi everyone,

I've got a P1451 code and I've read that it could be the evap. leak detection pump or something related to it. I tried to take off the gas cap and tighten it again - I'll try cleaning it a bit with the business-end of a yellow/green sponge as recommended.

I'm wondering about a few things though: I understand the pump is located on the passenger side by the rear drive shaft, but I'm wondering if I need to remove anything else to get to it?

Also, in checking the electrical harness connection, I can try to pull the connector off and brush it a bit then put it back on, but should I try to clean it with anything like contact cleaner or put in some dielectric grease? I'll try to check out the wiring itself too and see if mickey mouse or chucky cheese got in there.

If I have to replace the pump, there wouldn't be any hoses with liquid connected to it, right? Also, I wouldn't know if I've got the 3 or 4 prong version of this pump and which one this is, but it appears the Bosch part is the 4-pin type and this is likely what's on my 2003 DII

This is the pump I'm considering:

Does anyone know anything about this? The code returned a bit after being cleared. I haven’t installed the new part linked above yet. I wasn’t sure if that was the best course to take here.

Very coincidentally, I just posted about this leaking. There’s definitely some fluid in the hoses, just no idea where it’s coming from. Also, no codes for me. Interested to see where this goes.
