Default '03 DII shift lock solenoid

so I finally got stuck in park... thanks Chris for help on the phone...

I got the shifter **** off, and can push the plunger in to shift perfectly. Brake lights do not work.

Do I need to replace the solenoid along with the brake switch? Do I need to loosen the three 10mm bolts to get the solenoid out?

is this the brake switch I need to fix it?

ok, so i reached up behind that black plastic cover under the dash, up by the pedal, and the brake switch popped out in my hand... I unplugged it from the wires and here it is.

so, i didn't see the orientation of the switch, but how do I pop that plastic cover off to see where the switch goes? it has 2 round discs where it attaches. I tried to get a flat screwdriver behind it but didn't do much. or do most pop it back in blindly without removing the plastic cover

Default Fix

Directly behind the brake pedal there is a plate that has an oblong hole in it that will fit the side of the switch with the plunger on it through it. Push it through so it goes through the hole and then turn it and it will lock in place. If you lay on the floorboard it is easier to see the hole. You might have to take the plastic cover off that covers some of the wires and such under the access cover beneath stealing wheel to see it better. This should fix both the brake light problem and the shifting problem. Good luck!
