Default brake switch replacement

I bought a new brake switch and i feel like i have it secure in place. I orientated the fins to the slots pushed in and rotated 90 degrees, while the brake pedal was pressed a bit. I snapped the electrical connector back in and my brake lights are constant on. Is it a fuse that is also blown? if so, where is the fuse? under the hood in that big fusebox? or did i F it up by maybe touching the plunger

i did not put the shifter back together yet, and i tried shifting out of park, but it wouldn't shift. does the shifter need to be reassembled to work again? I just want to be sure because I'm disabled and am not strong enough to pull the shift **** off...

thanks again
