03 disco 2 good one to buy?
Hi all. I've had a 2002 disco 2 for awhile, I'm up to 150k miles and it runs perfect. Only issue I've had was head gaskets. Had heads rebuilt and it's been running perfect. I love it.
My buddy is looking at a nice 03. Has 63k mikes. About same amount of miles as mine had when I bought it.
I know the 03 has a larger and I think different engine? Other than that pretty much same rig?
I told him I'd ask around and see if the 03 has any issues. it's from a dealer so larger issues he could use as price negotiation as well. They are asking 11.
Thanks all

The engine is a 4.6 vs a 4.0; same block, uses different internal parts, not a lot of performance difference.
11? Seem pretty high. Best price on this forum was RoxieMoxie who picked up a D2 with 117 garage kept miles for $2000. He should shop around.

I bought an '03 with just under 93k miles. VERY clean. It's an 'S', and I know that matters.
I felt I paid a little too much for it from a dealer, but I wanted one that was super clean. I paid $7300 out the door. Here in California, that's probably around $6300 before Tax, Lic, Transfer, Dealer Fees, etc...
Even though I probably could have saved a little; I did shop a long time, looking at dozens of them, and ultimately, I'm really happy with my purchase.

11k, are you kidding me. You should be abel to buy 2 for that price one to run, another for parts. I got my 03 almost 4 years ago with 93K on the ticker for 5K. I know i got a deal but still. Offer them 6500 at best, if they say no then walk.
Go to NADAGuides.com and value the car that way. Nadaguides is what the insurance companies use to value vechiles, boats, classic cars and so on.
According to nadaguides the value of a 2003 Discovery, in Chicago IL with 150000 miles is $5800. Have him print that out and then go negotiate.
2003 Land Rover Discovery Utility 4D SE 4WD Prices, Values & Discovery Utility 4D SE 4WD Price Specs | NADAguides
It also tells you that the dealer would of paid 2500 to 3500 for that car.
So if I had 11k to burn on a Discovery, look for a clean one, take it buy a mechanic, pay him 100 to look it over, pay 4,000 for it take the 7000 put it bank.
