Default Found this 02 Disco II - Good buy?

Looking for my first Rover and found this one, looks all right to me. What do you experts think? Intended use for my daily 60-mile commute.

2002, DISCOVERY II, NEW ENGINE, REBUILTED BUMPER TO BUMPER, LIKE NEW

Cheers,
Wolfy

60 miles a day. I'm guessing as a 5 day week job. 300 miles.

16k a year roughly. You want to keep the truck for about 5 years minimum I would guess.

80k ish on top of 130.

So what is likely to crop up before you get to 210k miles? Kinda everything.

But, if you can turn a spanner to save some of the labor costs that helps.

More people here will have experience of using the D2 as a DD. at those miles.

Price seems ok to me, if it is in the condition he states, with that work done. But price seems to be relative to where you are. Some folks will say it's high, others not.

I feel good about this one as the major items have been replaced. I am not too familiar with the ABS module...why/when does it need to be reset?

Looks a little expensive, but with all the receipts, maybe worth it.

I am bothered by his claim of rebuilt engine, make sure to analyze the receipts. Heads/Gaskets are standard, Rebuilt would be new piston rings , oil pump, crank/rod bearings, Machine shop services for crank and rods, etc.

If you want to have it inspected, he is not exactly close to you, but John Gadd at Union Jack 4X4 in Garden Grove is very knowledgeable on D2s and has a tech that is amazing.

Good luck.

Expensive for the miles on it.

Head gasket is probably going at this mileage.

I WOULD PASS.

Spend MORE on an LR3 and forget the D2.

Looks a tidy truck but I cannot speak for the engine as I know little about Rover V8's but with the mileage shown it's of little consequence on the running gear which is good for 200K+. Pricewise cannot really comment as it's a very different market to the UK.
