Default Are '03 Disco Wheel Bearings Servicable?

Okay, so I've had my Disco for over a year now, but I definitely don't consider myself to be an expert on it. Anyways, I'm getting some noise from my front passenger wheel whenever I turn. It kinda sounds like the wheel bearing, but I haven't had a chance to pull it apart yet. My old Silverado had the same problem, and I re-packed the bearings and it quieted down for another 80,000 miles. Are these bearings serviceable, or are they completely sealed off like our wonderful front drive shafts?

Thanks for your input everyone

From my research they are not servicable. You have to replace with a used or new one. I had a bad front right too. I ended up replacing it with a used front from eBay about for $50. That has been good for 31,000 so far. They are Timkin bearings, but I did not try to have a shop switch a bearing for me. Just be gentle removing the wheel speed sensor. And remember to replace the blue wire guide from the back as I messed up on mine and disovered a grinding noise a week later. I was lucky and found it while greasing my prop shaft. Just removed the bolt and put the wire guide back as it should have been.

Nope, another "improvement" over the DI, brought to you by BMW.

What sort of a noise are you getting, be specific, is it a grinding ot popping and do you get it only when turning one or both ways?

Thanks for the input everyone! I really appreciate it!

Mike: It's definitely a grinding noise. It's most noticeable when when I veer left on the highway, or when I'm veering from side-to-side on a twisty-turny road (welcome to my town). The noise is louder when I'm veering to the left, I don't have any noise at turns, but I drive like a grandma, so my turns are taken at maybe 10mph.

It's not that noticeable yet, but I figured I'd get some input so I know what's coming my way.

Thank you again for all of your input everyone

Better to catch that before you generate additional wear and need to replace additional parts.
If you buy new, most of the companies are including a speed sensor with a much longer wire so it can be attached directly to the SLABBS instead of just plugging it into the regular connector in the engine compartment. So depending on what you want to do, you now have 2 choices.
