Default 03 parts car....worth the trouble?

I have found a 03 parts car, and I can get the motor, trans, and t case for really cheap. Is it worth having considering the 03 issues. How about the heads? It is complete with a/c comp, alternator ect. Seller claims 53,000 0n the motor when wrecked but those heads sure have a lot of black sludge on them. I have an 01 and a 02 Disco and extra parts are great having around. I did get the headliner as it's a SD and I'm going to give it a paint job.

If you have a place to put it, and the price is right, parts cars that run and drive (or at least did recently) are great. Then you can break that rule about throwing parts at a problem all you want.... it only costs your time.

Price wise it's not the whole car...but lots of good parts. I can get the motor tranny and t/c for 300 and that's what I'm focused on. I will need to do the HG on my 02 at some point with 121,000 so thought the heads would be good to go have re-done and be ready. I bought the 03 wheels and put some cooper ATR's on them and on my car now. If the altanator, a/c comp and those type of items work on my 01 or 02 I will gather them up. Oh I already bought the front shaft and had the drive shop rework it and put it in my 02. Just don't want a bunch a stuff in the garage I will never be able to use.

The 99-02 and the 03-04 drive shafts are different. I'm not SURE that they won't work, but the transmission is longer on the 4.6 setup for a bigger transmission oil pump I think. That pushes the transfer case back making the driveshafts longer up front and shorter in the back. It's not much though.

I've heard you can use them if you change the flanges at the same time. Not positive though.

I had also heard that, and the 03 was a tad longer. But it did bolt in and worked fine while I had mine rebuilt from my 02. Did not seem to be a problem.

So sell the stuff you don't need to fund your other perhaps non-essential, but way more fun projects
