Default 04 coolant tank needed

My coolant tank has a pin hole. I started shopping and I found a tank that fits 99 to 02 for $60 and they have the 02 to 04 tank for $190. I don't understand the huge price difference so I kept shopping. The second place had a tank that fits 99 to 04 which confused me. Then I found Rovers North wants $26 for the tank. Help!??

hmmm... unusual for RN to be the lowballer on anything, a quality product and customer service and great exploded diagrams and old Polaroids don't come cheap. Their site shows that expansion tank is $221.10, model RNI554; and the Proline aftermarket for $79.95. The coolant cap is $25.90. Fits 99-2004 D2.

Alternate suppliers exist, including dismantlers (part out pros, like Paul Grant); and local boneyard (I fly low and fast with the partz vulturez to get at the dead ones early).

A work around to keep you rolling short term is melt that spot with a soldering iron or a nail heated with a flame. You can also melt a zip tie on it, and there are a variety of tank repair goo sold at parts store. Problem with tank repairs is that has pressure just like the radiator. I've seen a bolt and nut put through a hole drilled in the tank, with repair goo.

Default 99-02 tank.

The 99-02 at Atlantic British for the $60 is the same $190 tank for 02-04. Call and confirm with them. Installed 99-02 tank on my 04 last week. Identical but different part number......

When replacing the coolant bottle, make sure to replace the cap and switch to a 180 degree soft spring t/stat for better cooling.

The old part has been superseded to the new part as noted by this dealer website:

Land Rover Parts - Land Rover Parts Center - Call (800) 574-9217 for Genuine Land Rover Parts and Accessories

Either will work fine. Rock auto has the old part number in aftermarket form for $38.

Hey Savannaha, I was looking at the site wrong. That is just the cap for $26, anyway, they have not called me back. I'll take a look at Rock Auto, thanks Randy. Mike, I replaced the cap and upper hose assembly about a month ago, I'll go ahead and do the thermostat. i will try yiur fuys for the "soft spring" thermostat. Which switch? Thanks to all of you!

So I got on Rock Auto's site and the only parts listed were:
2004 : LAND ROVER : DISCOVERY : 4.6L V8 OHV : Cooling System

You have to look up a 1999-2002. Or search by the "old" part number, ESR2935
