Default '04 DISCO SE, good deal?

I have been looking for a '04 disco and wanted some input. SE Black w/ tan interior, every option but the 7th row!. seems mint cosmetic wise. 110k miles. brand new rubber (good rubber). He says the front brakes are near due to be replaced. Everything works! $7,400.00. What do you think? It's the only disco local and a old classmate of mine. Plenty in Detroit within the same price-point but are mostly dealers and far away going on only pic's! Anything in particular I should look out for? He is not ready to sell it for a couple of weeks so I have time too think on it. It seems he just bought it to get through the winter months, does way better than I do, if you know what I mean? what do you think?

I'm assuming not the original owner, right? If so, as mentioned, what records does he have? Carfax? Any accidents or paintwork? All important questions. Also, at that mileage it would be due for some not-so-cheap work if not done already like the head gasket. So, figure on another $2K all in for things to make it tip-top shape and make your call from there! The price seems right though. By the way, you might not want "all options". I looked for a while to avoid some options, such as the air suspension. I did want the ACE though which I found and was psyched as I have not heard of many issues with that and it is a big difference in the drive on the twisties.

What everyone said above plus...
- Make sure you have it inspected by an independent Rover mechanic.
- Check the Front Drive shaft. Each of the u-joints should have a grease fitting. If not, then the u-joints (and centering ball) all need to be replaced ASAP. (It isn't necessarily easy, but you could do this yourself for less than $100 if you have the tools.)
- Since this guy is an old classmate of yours, does he have it serviced at a dealer? If so, maybe he can get them to look up the service history and provide a copy...
- Based on the results of above service record findings, just be prepared to do a lot of service on it to get it up to date. (See the 'Major Service' thread from Disco Mike at the top of this section.)
This sounds like a pretty good price. If you do the above and don't find any serious problems, I think I would go for it...

Isn't it funny how the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence? I would seriously consider paying ~$18,000 USD (assuming current exchange rates of 1.61 sterling to $1) for an 04 TD5 w/81K. We can't get LR Diesels here in the states (yet?). You guys get the best of everything!

Oh, as Sloppy said...records...

Oh man, you so do not know how lucky you are! I'd pay that much for an 04 TD5 with 81k on the odometer /today/.
And then I'd put a snorkel on it and drive it through a pond.
