Default Good deal or not on 1997 Disco SE7?

There is a 1997 Disco SE7 with 124K miles for $2900. It is in pretty good condition however owner states it needs an air flow sensor and will need 2 new front tires. The brakes are also going to need to be done soon. It appears to be far below book for the year and mileage and being a SE7. Any concerns I should have for this year or other questions to ask? He states air flow sensor is less than $100 to purchase butI am unaware how expensive tohave installed. Looking forvehicle that can handle winterweather in Michigan and will be dependable. Disco has a good reliability rating but wondered if any others had input on this deal. Thanks.

Well, I'm kind of puzzled about you asking if $2900.00 is a good deal on a 1997 Discovery. Not flaming or anything, but do you expect that at some point, people will pay you to take their car ??? For crying out loud, this is a Dicovery!!! the leather seats alone are worth more than $3000.00

Since the actual owner says that the air flow sensor is a mear $100.00, I'd tell him to get it and put it in and that you'll take the vehicle. Expect to have a few grands to invest in it to bring it back to top shape, but this is normal. In the end, you'll still have much more of a vehicle than you paid for.

FYI the Disco is one of the best vehicles in winter conditions as long as you realise that it is not a snowmobile and you drive it carefully and intelligently. There's no storm that can stop you if you drive in such manner.

Thats about right for a fixer upper.

A Mass air flow sensor runs about $650 for a Disco I.
It takes a screw driver to change.
Brakes another $500 to $700.
Two tires thats up to you.
