04 discovery 2 ac condenser fan not working. blowing 15amp gear selector fuse
Hi my AC condenser fan is seized up and I checked the fuse number five and that didn’t fix it. Would you have one available that I could purchase? Also fuse 15 under the steering wheel that controls the park reverse neutral when you press the break keeps blowing when it blows I have to manually press in the plastic piece that is holding it from putting the vehicle in reverse or drive I have to replace this fuse every day I don’t know what is causing it to blow thank you please get back to me with some info, Dan
Short in brake lights, bad brake switch, short in tail light wiring/assembly. Efan wise I'm pretty sure the 96 Toyota Corolla main efan motor is the same unit (not the smaller efan motor for the AC).
Had a question for other forum members on the AC blowing fuses issue:
The previous owner of the '04 that I recently picked up said that it blows the AC fuse as soon as you turn the AC on. Unfortunately, I'm not picking it up for another 3-4 weeks (a few states away) so I don't have the ability to trouble shoot it immediately, but there's a potential donor vehicle at the local junkyard.
If anyone has some experience with a similar issue, can you let me know if it might have been the AC condenser fan, or the AC compressor itself? The parts aren't very expensive at the junkyard and I was wondering if they might be worth the money to just pick them up as a potential fix or backup parts?
Please let me know if you have any advice. Thanks.

Cooling fan is fuse #5 in engine compartment fusebox. A/C compressor is fuse #6 in engine compartment fuse box. So, if fuse 6 is blowing...l'd say it's compressor clutch related or wiring harness issue. Install a new fuse, unpug compressor, turn A/C on and see if it blows the fuse...if it does...harness/wiring issue...if it doesn't...compressor clutch or compressor issue.
I won't be able to try this scenario out for another 3-4 weeks when I'm in front of the truck, but it's good to know this and the other information that I've found on the forum is consistently pointing in this direction. Now I just need to decide if I grab the junkyard condenser fan and compressor for $65-75 and hope they're both in working condition as spare/replacement parts. That donor vehicle is only going to last at my local junkyard for another week or two at best - it's already stripped pretty bare.
I have no way of knowing that the fan is 100% as the junkyard doesn't let you hook a battery up to test power on anything, so that would be a crap shoot as well.
The fan should spin freely, by hand. Stick a screwdriver between guard and spin blades...if it spins...most likely good.
Yeah, it's a crap shoot on the A/C compressor...but...beat them down on the price because of it. Don't be shy to force their hand.

Stopped at the junkyard on the way home today and grabbed the condenser fan (spun nice and free and looks to be in good shape), compressor (decent condition and spins freely), and some extra good fuses for $54 out the door. Figure that's worth the crap shoot as potential fix or back-up parts for getting the '04 AC working again. I'll know in a few weeks time once I'm in front of the truck and have a chance to run through the reason that it's blowing the fuses when you try to run the AC.
It always could be a bigger issue, but fingers crossed this will take care of it.
