'04 Fan Clutch
Need a fan clutch in my '04. Found this on ebay, but concerned it is a severe duty. But it is the clutch and fan(which I need both).

Do not get the severe duty one. It sounds like a small plane taking off, it sucks the little power your truck has, makes bad fuel economy worse and does zero for cooling. I know some people will say it cools a little better but it always runs, and according to my Ultra Gauge it did not lower the temps even a degree over the standard one.
I had it in there for a few weeks but then went to a regular one. Get the regular one from Atlantic British. Might be a few more bucks but worth it.

BTW...the 5 year warranty might be all well and good for the part, but if that cheap fan breaks it will do thousands in damage...and you can trust me on that. I had a quality fan break apart on me which was new. One in who knows what chance but it happened. You want a company that stands behind their products, not some cheap ebay stuff.
This is the same one I put in this weekend:
Fan Assembly Includes Viscous Coupling (Part # PGG000080) - Land Rover cooling/heating from Atlantic British
By the way...the one you listed the ebay link to is for the 99-02. The 03-04 is different, and the correct one is the one I linked above.

Just to clarify: I noticed it was a severe duty, thats what I was wondering if I would be hapy with one. I didn't think so, but wanted to hear from someone who has ran one(done, thanks snafu)
Yes, I did notce it was for 99-02. It would work for an 04,the reason they list them different is because 03 & 04 the clutch and fan is all one piece(yes drow). So when replacing, I will need both. I think I will get a clutch for an older disco, and get a used fan to put on it. Cheaper than buying a complete replacement unit for an 04.
Does anyone know if a D1 clutch and fan would work? I know the clutch will screw on the pump, but what about the whole assembly, I notice the fan is different. My brother has one off his parts car he will give me to try, but I dont want to damage anything

Pretty much anything that clears the shroud will work. I have a water pump from a D2 attached to a Chevy Blazer clutch and fan trimmed) on a D1. You want to move air. So for me it was $20 at the junk yard. Most junk yards have late 90's early 2000's Chevy / GMCs. Six inch clutch, look for blades cupped in same direction as Rover, this is reverse rotation. Fan clutch does not stay engaged at high power all the time, so it is not an extreme duty. You want a fan with a metal back plate.

Yes, I noticed the fan on a D1 is smaller( only aprox 1")
I decided to experiment, and pulled the fan/clutch off my '98(which is a chevy clutch with a D1 fan modded to work on it). It is on the right in the first pic, the '04 on the left. Very similar, even the blade spacing is exact, just one inch smaller dia.
Now I will go browse the wrecking yards and score a chevy to put back on my '98
