Default 10K on Turner longblock- high lead levels (blackstone)

Hi everyone- Last summer, I bought a longblock from Turners and installed it in my 04D2. I have sent in two samples to blackstone and i'm seeing high lead. Any thoughts? Runs really well and no weird noises.

Thoughts appreciated. Screenshot of my report...

I'd say it could be just a bad lab result, poorly done...since you aren't seeing any high levels of tin or chromium and average copper levels. Not that unusual to have poor lead readings in lab test, most common high level we usually see here at work. When we questioned our oil supply person, he checked it out with lab and they said lead is one of the most commonly misdiagnosed levels (for whatever reasons...l can't remember). See if it changes at all during next lab test. If you are not hearing/seeing any other issues...l'd not put much weight in this result...but that is just me.

If you still aren't comfortable with the results, do a same mileage oil change and have that sample tested...if results are similar...shorten the oil change interval by a thousand miles and see if that changes the test results.

Trivial worst case and possibly good for lubrication in the best?

Lead was 56 ppm @ 5k Miles on engine, two oil changes ago.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll test again and try a shorter interval if I don’t see a decrease.

Interesting that the number is diminishing. Maybe, they use some sort of machining oil/lube, while machine the engine and this is residue being captured by the oil? It will be interesting to see what the next results show.

Was going to ask also, what type of oil do you use?

Here's some 'toilet time' reading for you. IMO your lab analysis is awry, but, there is a significant proportion of lead in alu castings along with many other natural and man made elements too numerous to list here. The automotive industry is probably the highest user of alu parts on vehicles.

Interested in any words of wisdom in dropping that new block in. I am about to do the same. Any advice or gotchas?

Jason- no new insight from my experience- all that you need is here- read as many forum posts as you can (literally spend 8-10 hrs combing through other people’s questions) I’m lazy, so I replaced as many things as I could while apart. It might have been overkill, but I didn’t want to have to go back under the hood for awhile. Good luck.

Yeah, that is what I think I am going to do. Just replace anything that could be suspect under the hood. Thanks. I will let you know.
