The typical D2 HG problem happened between 80,000 and 120,000 miles, so you're past the original "worry zone". Sans the HG problem, and as evidenced by previous posts, 200,000 miles is quite doable.

Im sure the oil pump has been replaced since I am in the VIN range. Timing chain is original but does not rattle. I might get around to doing that soon.

I agree with what has been said here, mainly if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Not because of a lazy attitude but because anytime you “fix” something you introduce human error. If you’re using good oil and changing regularly, and keeping the cooling system maintained to keep the motor running in the right coolant temp range, I’d just proceed as you are.

Just my $0.02. I’ve spent too much money chasing down issues and trying to be proactive to only have it bite me in the rear because I overthought it and ended up screwing up the job. If you’re doing all the called for regular maintenance then just keep driving it in my opinion.

You make a good point. Given the age of these trucks you can open a can of worms with any well intended "preventive actions" that require taking things apart that aren't broken. Lots of fun for sure.

I just towed a trailer from CO to Death Valley and back a bit over 2k miles. It turned 180k on the trip. Used a bit of oil. Ran perfect.

As everyone knows, keep up with service and they’ll be fine.

The biggest issue is fixing bad previous fixes and doing service that was neglected.

Always bleed coolant system . Air bubbles are killer on the motor .
