Im pretty sure its the ACE fluid. From what I have read its pretty common for that to drip. However, if it is the radiator, is there a certain type of radiator fluid I need to buy to put in it? What about using stop-leak?

I guess I could go either way. The P/S and ACE do have some known leakage issues and the color would be similar. If you collect a little on some glossy cardboard or paper you might be able to tell which it is by scent or feel.

The Coolant in the Discovery is Dexcool. Most manufacturers make a DexCool extended life antifreeze. The antifreeze is either bright orange (Dex Cool) or yellow (universal). If you haven't changed the antifreeze yet, it is probably a good idea to do so. I think people here have recommended changing it yearly to avoid gasket problems down the road. Don't use stop leak in the cooling system, it will just cause you problems down the road.

I got my new tires today, they look real sharp. He said the brake pads were brand new that were on there so he just sanded down the rotors, and bled the brakes. I got the tensioner pulley in the mail, and hopefully I can get those u-joints soon also. I will try to call the mechanic and make an appointment for next weekend or so.

Mag, you were asking about the rear wiper before...

Today, I made the discovery (no pun indended) that the rear wiper intermittent wipe cycle is controlled by the same selector that adjusts the front wipers. Even if the front wipers are running nonstop, the time delay can be set on the rear wiper using the wiper intermittent switch on the wiper stalk.

Its radiator fluid, atleast I believe. When I checked it the other day it was about half full so I didnt assume anything was wrong. Today it was almost completely empty. Theres no signs of where its dripping from that I can see. When the mechanic puts it up on the hoist to install the new pulley, serpentine belt, and drive shaft, he can fix an additional repair now too. More money Grand..

Its no Joke about changing your coolant frequently if its Dexcool..
Its Organic, it degrades, or becomes acidic, or something of that nature and then it starts to eat your gaskets,.. Head gasket replacement is a PITA..

Find the leak, flush the old fluid and replace it.

I have a DI.. and the good old Green Stuff thats good for killing Cats!!

Congrats on the car mag48, glad to see that your getting everything fixed up. I'm 16 and got my 2001 Discovery II this Christmas, had to get it towed a week after because my radiator and master cylinder went out, so I feel your pain on the repairs and expenses. Awesome car though, I think it is definately worth it. You have an SE7 right? Does your have rear air suspension? I have an SE7 also, but the previous owners took out the air springs and converted it to coils. Just was wondering how the ride was with air springs if you have them. Thanks and congrats again on the car, they are really awesome and unique.

Yeah it has the air suspension, and its a really fun car to ride in. However, Im getting real sick of the things it needs fixed. Today the check engine light came on again it maybe something stupid but who knows. Also, the right rear window just came off the track and I have no idea how to fix that. Its just irking me right now.

I would bet that your window regulator broke for the rear window. It's pretty simple to pull to inside panel and find out what exactly is going on. I'd pull the panel and put something in there to prop the window up until you can get a replacement regulator. Rover uses plastic rollers on the window regulator that are notorious for breaking.

To remove the door panel you'll need to remove the speaker (4 screws), remove the door handle trim piece (1 screw), then carefully pop the clips that hold the door panel. Use a something flat like a screwdriver if you don't have a trim removal tool and gently pry the panel away from the door. Work your way around the perimeter of the panel until it is loose.

Welcome to the world of Rovers buddy! I found that out real quick. I wouldn't worry TOO much about the SES light, as long as the bastard isn't flashing. Just keep an eye on it, and fix it when you can. They are a beast to maintain, but my God are they good looking.

Keep your chin up man, you'll find your equilibrium with it. Then you two will function like a unit.
