Default 1996 Discovery

I just bought a 1996 Discovery with 104,000 for $3,000. I need to replace the ignition switch and have seen a few on ebay. I was told the the o2 sensors need to be replaced as it won't accelerate and auto shift. The check engine light is not on however went ahead and bought the universal genaric o2 sensor and am now reading that this is a mistake? The sensors were only $25 for four wire and plan to splice??

The other problem I have at the moment is that the lock diff will not budge. I put the auto trans in nuetral and try to shift and will not.???

Just joined the forum and can't stop thinking about mynew discovery.
Thanks,
steve

The lock diff shifter won't budge because the previous owner didn't use it. It is just stuck. Keep trying it, working it, it will eventually free up.

As far as the generic O2 sensors go, if you splice the wires they will corrode and mess things up not to mention that they will give the wrong readings.

As far as not accelerating, maybe a clogged catalitic converter.
