Default 2 more questions

1 - When I press the external temp button "EXT" on my climate control all I get is two dashes displayed. What should I do in order to get it to display the outside temp?

2 - On my mirror, there is 3 buttons, when I press them an orange light comes on. I cannot tell that these buttons do anything. What do they do?

I think I need an owners manual. I did DL the Rave CDs...only need to burn them now

Thanks again guys!!

Well, for the outside temp, I'll have to get back to you, but the orange light is most likely the heated mirror display.

My climate control properly reads in Farenheit.

I have a button on my climate control that say EXT...when I press it, all it shows is two dashes...I am assuming this is supposed to display the exterior temperature.

Ok, it will go back to Celsious when you replace the battery.
Maybe the thermometer for the outside temp is bad/broken.

The buttons on your mirror should be your homelink system for controlling our garage door. You have to program to your door using a procedure in the owners manual. You may also have to consult your garage door opener manual as to procedure. I think I remember having to get a ladder and climb up to program my door. You probably will need to get an owners manual to get familiar with our land rover. When I first bought my 2004 DiscoI spent some time with that book.

The buttons are Homelink. As far as thetemp display goes, you say it reads fine in fahrenheit but you also say when you push the ext temp button only dashes are displayed. Is it the interior selected temp that displays fine in fahrenheit or is it the ext temp that displays fine in fahrenheit? You could check behind your grille to check the ambient temp sensor for damage. Other than that, you could get a hold of the wiring diagrams for the hvac system and go through the circuit for the ambient temp sensor.....well, I just checked actually and you probably have a faulty ambient air temp sensor....it is a two wire thermistor, unplug sensor, check resistance when cold and using a hair drier, not too close, raise the temp and check resistance change, if when you check it OL then there is an open in the sensor and will need a new sensor, if not then you probably havea wiring issue, or if it goes OL at a one temp then shows resistance at a higher or lower temp then a new sensor is in order.

Your ambient Air temp sensor is faulty. It shows "- -" and will make the cooling fan run permanently as the A/C system cannot determine the air temp at the front of the rad.

Replace the sensor and all will be fine. The A/C ECU has built in diagnostics for you to confirm it.

With the Engine and Ignition OFF , Press and Hold the AC and Air Distribution buttons, then turn ON the ignition, you will hear a beep and the Left hand display will show "FC". It will then check all the components in the system.

The faults are displayed by a 2 figure number in the Right hand display.

I can pretty much guarantee you will see fault code 12Thats a duff sensor

Part No JTF100160, about £6 here in UK, so whats that ? $14

UrbanPanzer, you have no idea what you are talking about.

Is there a web address with the HVAC fault codes somewhere?
