Default 2 more things checked off the 60k

did my power steering fluid and O2 sensors today.

for anyone looking to do the sensors soon they are a piece of cake. make sure exhaust is warm (not hot) and with a 22mm open end wrench they can be taken out easily with not much effort. unclipping the looms is the hardest part. passenger side is really tucked up and away but not impossible to get to.

truck runs way better and smoother.

did the PS fluid and replaced it with sythetic atf as i do on all my vehicles.

carry on men.

Well you screwed up on this one, Joe.
You may use ATF in your other vehicles but not in a D2.
I would suggest you go buy 4 quarts of Power Steering fluid and flush it out today before our already fragile p/s pump starts to feel the effects of the wrong fluid.

i added a bottle of lucas synthetic power steering treatment (not the stop leak) to mine. i like the way the pump runs with that in it, or royal purple makes a PS fluid.

If it weren't so expensive, I would probably do a full flush and go straight synthetic, and may when I replace my pump, somewhere down the road.

what is so different between the two fluids that it effects our pumps more then other pumps? And what is it that makes our pumps so fragile?

Hey what are you driving, this isn't the only thing that is different between Rovers and the rest of the world, but trust me it will bite you.

The only stupid question is the one not asked.

Do a flush, its messy, this is how I do it...
Remove the return line power steering hose from the reservoir and stick it into a empty washer solvent bottle.
Have a friend start the engine while you pour fresh fluid into the reservoir.
Make sure your washer jug does not overflow.
Once fresh fluid comes out of the hose turn off the engine.
Put the hose back.
Refill with fresh fluid.
Done.
Doing this will replace 100% of the old fluid with new.
