Default BRAKE light on...checked a few things, thoughts?

OK, so I've had the three amigos for a little while now. Recently the red "BRAKE" light is also on (the one that comes on normally when you engage the parking brake.) I've done the following:

-I've checked and topped of my brake fluid reservoir.

-I've checked the switch that the parking brake lever engages (I'm guessing all the switch does is ground the circuit, so I removed the connector and grounded it using a piece of wire.)

-I disconnected the connector on the fluid reservoir and shorted across it using a piece of wire (I'm guessing that's what the float switch does when the reservoir is full.)

None of these helped. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

how are the actual brakes (how much pad and how do they feel?) I drive a 97 and am unfamiliar with an 03 but some vehicles actually have sensors on the calipers that will turn the light on when the pads get too low, if there is a sensor on the fluid reservoir it shouldn't have this but may be something to check, there are wheel speed sensors down on each wheel assembly for the ABS so don't mess with those.

I'll take a closer look at the brakes when I flush the fluid this weekend or next. Thanks for the tip.
