Took apart the relief valves today (didn't know there were two).

They look identical except that 1 has a long barrel inside the spring and the other doesn't. Searched forums, found CharlieV mention identical setups so as usual I'm left with more questions than I started with.

The relief valve as pictured in RAVE (oil filter side) had the extra piston/barrel



Can anyone confirm?

 

Bump.. does anyone know if my parts are correct or does there need to be a piston for the 2nd relief valve?

Also, RAVE wants me to remove the rotor from the inner gear on the oil pump in order to check tolerances - but they do not appear to be separable.

 

Never personally pulled either of these so I am no help.

This workshop page suggests they are different but do not show that extra piece that you have.

The one there is a 4th edition. Looks like my setups are correct.

Is there a downloadable PDF version of the 4th edition anywhere?

I accidentally stumbled on this one when I was looking for a torque spec.
