Default 2000 cooling system problems

Sloshing sound, slightly low on coolant at last service, overheat light came on, immediately pulled over, waited 30 seconds, restarted temp gauge read fine. Got home asap. Heat works at times, not always. Start with pressure test i assume? What is operating pressure?

Ok, got it in garage, no coolant in reservoir at all. Mostly antifreeze( green not red) on drivers side of engine, visible gasket failure at throttle body heater plate gasket but not much on valve cover. Pulled off heater plate and decided to pull thermostat while at it will flush system. Anything else i should check? New throttle body gasket? What coolant is most popular now? Apparently previous owner replaced dexcool, not original radiator by looks of things. How much is this stuff gonna cost at rover dealership as opposed to the $50 or $60 if i order online and wait for parts? Whats downside of the lower temp thermostat if i go aftermarket or does rover actually offer one? Live in missouri if that changes anything.

Throttle body kit is pretty cheap. Meanwhile you can bypass it by connecting those two lines with a 1/4 piece of copper tubeing. Rovers north sells 180 tstat and there is a cheaper version online motorad. No real downside at that temp. Lower you will possibly see Fuel and performance issues. Green is good. Most stay away from dexcool

Trottle body is 27 bucks, get the oem, better gasket on it.

a bad throttle body can dump all of your collant, slowly.

Then I would pressure test it. i would replace the coolant with green. watch it every day for a week make sure it isnt going down. if it is i tell you i am a fan of kseal, but many are not.
