This part makes me think that something else is going on here. You should NEVER be able to roll the vehicle if it's in park. It either wasn't all the way in park, or something is broken.

FYI, the initial symptom you described while driving also sounds like a bad transmission sensor. One that's going bad may intermittently make your truck pop in and out of gear every few miles as you're driving.
