Default 2001 D2 won't start

Hi all,

So my beloved D2 died on me in a parking lot. It will turn over and has plenty of juice to do so but won't start. Brand new battery. I hear short bursts of what sounds like air (psshh sound) coming out near the driver side of the block rhythmically timed as it tries to turn over. Any ideas? Tow truck driver said it could be the fuel injectors?

Thanks!

Jeremy

Crank Position Sensor is the most likely the problem.
Very common problem and doesn't throw a code.

If you're going to diagnose it yourself you can rule out the CPS by removing the brake booster line from the intake and dumping a small amount of fuel into the intake. If you go to start your D2 and it fires up for a few seconds it's not the CPS as it wouldn't have spark, so I'd inspect the fuel pump/fuel pump relay. If it doesn't run for a few seconds with fuel added then yes it's the CPS.
