Angry 2001 Disco II front noise - Bearing?

New noise folks! I have noticed some metal noise on low speed, when acceleration around 15-30mile/hrs. once over 30 mi/hrs. there is no noise.

I had an accident and was a good hit one the right wheel, had to replace the rim and Drag bar. I had the shop checked under. There were no other visible damages.

My question: can this sound be from the Bearing? Do you recommend replacing the bearing? what is the best way to check the bearings? And what are the spec for these bearings? where would I find them?

This may not be bearing but if I open I may as well replace them just to eliminate the possibility.

Thanks for your help

You can find wheel bearings at most major auto parts stores. Spend the few dollars extra for the higher priced ones. Guys that did your drag link can handle this as well.

I was looking for size at British Atlantic and PartsGeek but they didn't have any info on it, may be i was looking at the wrong places. Any idea what size they would be?

First of all, you can't buy bearings for a D2, you have to buy an entire hub assembly. Before spending $400 for a hub, you need to test the hub cause it could also just be brakes dragging because of a stuck caliper or warn out pads.

Thanks Mike. No wonder I could not find just the bearings!
Front Break pads are good. You have a point there - I need to open and check.
This weekend hopefully I can dedicate some time. I have too many pesky issues and not enough time!

Well Christmas Break is coming. I may be in war path with the Disco. to fix all.

Look for one pad that has a lot more wear which would indicate a caliper issue. As for the hub, lift the front tire off the ground and while holding the tire at the top and bottom, try to wiggle the tire back and forth towards you.

Thanks Mike. I guess some times one knows what to do but needs re-assurance from others so I don't mess it up.

Sorry, I checked the Advance Auto site for front wheel bearing and it produced a T-37 bearing, can't trust those computer weasels....

Here's something close to the right part http://www.carparts.com/details/Land...-1597338986583
